Job Description


The Director of Mortgage Operations will head up the set up team, the processing team, and act as the business Control Director to hold the originations and servicing license for New York. 


Job Functions and Responsibilities:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Examples below:

  • Establish goals and objectives for the department in alignment with overall divisional goals
  • Lead multiple teams focused on providing support to the mortgage fulfillment division
  • Manage, monitor and measure the performance of queues and processes
  • Operate risk management controls to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations

  • Develop new and more innovative, efficient processes to improve overall end to end cycle times or improve quality
  • Responsible for communicating monthly results to Management on departmental performance objectives
  • Monitor performance of staff according to established standards
  • Preform capacity and staffing planning to ensure adequate service levels are met
  • Develop and manage business control program designed to remediate operational events and implement controls to reduce risk. 
  • Assess regulatory and agency bulletin impact across business units and execute on actions required to meet changes
  • Manage Policy and Procedures

  • Meet “Qualified Individual” state requirements and act as underwriting QI as required by states


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years mortgage operations experience in an environment that is reliant upon time-sensitive delivery and adherence to high quality standards.
  • A minimum of 7 years fulfillment production, loan processing, pipeline review and capacity management with 5+ years in a management capacity.
  • Direct underwriting experience within the last 5 years
  • Current NLMS licensed
  • Current New York state licensed
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and planning ability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management to ensure effective implementation of time-sensitive initiatives, identify deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Technical mortgage operations knowledge (rates, programs, underwriting, sales, systems) required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required in order to provide guidance and recommendations to Client Management, Directors and Managers.
  • Proven experience summarizing critical data points.
  • Must be a forward strategic thinker constantly focused on shaping the company to meet and anticipate both near and long-term business issues.
