Job Description


The ClosingSpecialist reports to the Operations Closing Supervisor and is responsible fordrawing closing documents and sending them to the appropriate parties. TheClosing Specialist works under very tight deadlines, so a successful candidatewill have very strong organization and time management skills. When questionscome up, the Closer will be expected to seek clarification from SettlementAgents, Underwriters, Pipeline Managers/Processors, and Brokers/ LoanOfficers.  Thus, strong written andverbal communication and customer service skills are extremely important.Quality is the most important part of a Closing Specialist’s job, so a strongattention to detail is critical to the role. Occasional weekend and eveninghours will be required based on department volume.  

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

To perform thisjob successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. Examples below:

  • Establishesand maintains a thorough knowledge of all products and investor requirements toensure quality closing packages

  • Handleall revision requests in a timely manner

  • Ensureloan documents are delivered on time as determined by our service levelagreements

  • Auditinitial documents and file based on audit procedures.

  • Maintainupdated status of loans and enter all required data

  • Reviewtitle information to ensure appropriate vesting is determined at time ofclosing

  • Workwith team lead and/or team members on miscellaneous department projects asneeded

  • Cross-trainin all positions for coverage purposes

  • Preparesall closing documents required to close mortgage loans, ensuring documentationis complete and accurate; follows up with any discrepancies

  • Auditclosing documents and file based on audit procedures.

  • Ensuresthat all loans meet guidelines for quality and regulatory compliance andinvestor closing standards are met

  • Preparesand explains closing requirements to settlement agent as needed

  • Coordinateshipping and receiving of documents to loan advisors, settlement agents, andwholesale partners, as needed.

  • Reliableand regular attendance and punctuality is expected



  • To perform this job successfully, an individualmust have the following education and/or experience:

  • Minimum of two years of Closing experiencerequired. Reverse mortgage industry experience a plus.

  • Ability to prepare routine administrativepaperwork

  • Organizing and coordinating skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain files andrecords

  • Proficient computer skills including proficiencyin Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer

  • Individual must be extremely detailed-oriented

  • Employee must work well under pressure, meetingmultiple and conflicting deadlines

  • Must at all times demonstrate cooperativebehavior with colleagues and supervisors

Training / LicensingRequirements:

Must pass the Company’s Background Screening process priorto beginning employment.  Additionally,as a condition of employment, you may be required to pass client-specificbackground check requirements or Federal/State licensing requirements, ifapplicable.
