The Quality Control Analyst reports to the Supervisor, Originations Credit Quality Control. This position requires a thorough understanding of Agency guidelines. Conventional required, FHA and VA preferred. The Analyst is responsible to review a loan sample selected for prefunding quality assurance and post funding due diligence to ensure all investor/regulatory requirements are met and the loan aligns with PHH Mortgage’s Risk Appetite. As each review is completed the Analyst is responsible for providing accurate and timely feedback to the Origination’s business segment.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Review the loan from the perspective of Income/Employment, Asset, Collateral and Credit perspectives
  • Review the loan file from the data integrity stand point and look out of possible misrepresentations and red flags
  • Confirm the loan file is complete from the Regulatory stand point with appropriate documentation
  • Adhere to strict timelines prescribed by Management and provide the review response in the desired timeframe
  • Should have effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Should have good comprehension skills and ensure all changes and updates are immediately adopted
  • Responsible for re-underwriting loans based on high-risk characteristics to determine if investor guidelines were met, if sound underwriting practices were made and determine if corrective actions are warranted based on audit results
  • Responsible for completing comprehensive examinations of all channels; Retail, Wholesale and Broker business to ensure collateral integrity, documentation accuracy and completeness as well as credit quality
  • Analyze the risk level of loans reviewed and completed by underwriter
  • Identify and work through alternatives for loans that fall outside of guidelines
  • Demonstrate the ability to translate underwriting guidelines with application of mitigating factors, when applicable, to ensure proper salability to investors
  • Takes the lead in communicating both in writing and orally with third party stakeholders and clients as needed
  • Involved in identifying process enhancements and recommendations for guideline changes to guard against risk
  • Review high & low risk flags from data alerts to clear variances
  • Consistently meet established productivity and quality measurements on a consistent basis
  • Perform other duties within Quality Control, as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3 years Quality Control OR Mortgage Underwriting experience is required
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of Conforming, Non-conforming, FHA, and VA underwriting requirements Must have mortgage industry experience.
  • Thorough working knowledge of real estate documentation, policies, compliance, and procedures
  • High level of proficiency with mortgage loan processing and underwriting systems
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Proficient on computer programs required for position
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Strong customer service skills, excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and must demonstrate strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills and sound decision-making ability
  • Must demonstrate interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with other departments and third parties in a professional manner
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced, high volume work environment with proven follow up and organizational skills required
  • Bilingual skills a plus

TRAINING / LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (only add if needed)

  • DE/SAR/LAPP Underwriting Certification preferred but not required depending on experience
  • Must pass the Company’s Background Screening process prior to beginning employment. Additionally, as a condition of employment, you may be required to pass client-specific background check requirements or Federal/State licensing requirements, if applicable.
