Job Description

The VP of Investor Reporting and Cashiering has ultimate responsibility for ensuring operational effectiveness within the areas of reporting and remitting to investors as well as consumer and investor funds management. Operational effectiveness includes the development of processes that ensure a cost-effective, scalable business model while maintaining compliance with Regulators' requirements.

This individual serves as the primary point of contact for business unit managers, department managers and the executives who lead PHH's business units on issues related to Investor reports and remittances and mortgage payment processing. This person will apply proven communication skills, technical, analytical and organizational skills to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. An overall understanding of the mortgage industry, governmental regulations and the internal operations of PHH Mortgage are critical to success in this role.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Examples below:

  • Overseeing the daily operations in the Investor Reporting and Cashiering departments.
  • Manage the P&L's for all business areas responsible
  • Ensuring operational effectiveness:
    • Managing Investor reports, remittances, and movement of consumer and Investor funds.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (i.e. RESPA, USAP, SOX, etc.).
    • Overseeing the development of automation and process improvements to ensure a cost effective, scalable business model.
    • Reviewing and modifying the existing staffing model to ensure optimal supervisory effectiveness.
    • Maintaining compliance with PHH's Basic Operating Principles.
  • Ensuring that qualitative and quantitative standards are met consistently.
    • Improving efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of processes to improve PHH's overall customer satisfaction levels.
    • Reviewing and modifying cost models to create opportunities for revenue generation.
  • Overseeing a team of managers in both the United States and off shore (India) with responsibility for daily production and related special projects.
    • Presenting complex information internally to executives, senior leadership and externally to clients.
    • Composing written narratives to supplement process and quality reports.
  • Providing monthly operational reporting to Senior and Executive Management.
  • Developing succession planning including but not limited to the adequate training of potential successors.
  • Developing and implementing competitive incentive compensation plans in alignment with PHH's strategic initiatives for employees reporting into this position.
  • Maintain policies and procedures for all functions.
  • Monitor daily production reports to ensure appropriate accuracy levels and turnaround times are met.
  • Oversee training programs or career development programs to build team strength and consistency.
  • Retain top performers and performance manage non-performers.
  • Develop and implement new processes to improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Produce monthly Operational Reports for Executive Management
  • Present the teams policies, procedures and production data to clients and rating agencies

Key Result Areas:

  • Establishing appropriate controls, evaluation and diagnostics to determine that processes meet PHH's goals and standards for compliance, accuracy, timeliness and customer satisfaction.
  • Reducing operating costs and errors.
  • Ensuring scalability.
  • Reducing customer inquiries and complaints.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience:

  • Bachelors' degree from an accredited university, with Commerce or Accounting major. MA in Business Administration, Accounting or Economics is helpful.
  • Seven to ten years of management experience in the Residential Loan Servicing industry, preferably in Cashiering, Investor Reporting or Claims.
  • Five to six years of experience working with mortgages and mortgage management systems
  • Experienced writer and presenter; experienced presenting to senior leadership and external customers
  • Experienced developer of systems that effectively service a variety of mortgage types and increasing volume
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Products: Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint

Training / Licensing Requirements :

  • Must pass the Company's Background Screening process prior to beginning employment. Additionally, as a condition of employment, you may be required to pass client-specific background check requirements or Federal/State licensing requirements, if applicable.
